Looking for a Quiet getaway from city life? Salt Spring Island, nestled between Vancouver island and lover mainland BC, offers the perfect escape – slow living, coastal charm, and peaceful beaches. I spent a long weekend there, staying in the quiet Vesuvius Bay area and here is what I experienced (plus a few budget-friendly tips!)
🛳️
How to Get to Salt Spring Island from Vancouver

I arrived by BC Ferry from Tsawwasssen Ferry terminal to Long Harbour a scenic ride that takes around 1 hour. Be sure to book in advance – especially on weekends or holidays.
Once on the Island, it is a short drive to Vesuvius Bay, where I set up for my stay.
✅Tip: The Ferry ride itself offers beautiful views – sit outside if the weather allows!
🌊 Staying in Vesuvius Bay — Peace & Simplicity
I chose to stay near Vesuvius Bay, a calm, quiet area with a small beach — perfect for visitors who want to rest in peace, away from tourist crowds. It’s a great spot to unwind, take walks, or simply read by the water.
